I’m delighted to say that in the second of our Getting A Book Published Gatherings, the brilliant Chris Young is joining us.
Chris is not only a superb editor - now at DK, once of the RHS’ The Garden magazine - he’s a talented garden designer, content creator, podcaster and much more. He’s also one of those rare people who leaves smiles and happiness in his wake.
Chris is one of the leading publishers and content creators in the gardening and horticultural industry.
For the past 25 years he’s been in the gardening media world, firstly as editor of Garden Design Journal and latterly as both editor of RHS's The Garden and Head of Editorial for the RHS – overseeing books, magazines, podcasts, websites and specialist publishing.
He has written two books – RHS Encyclopedia of Garden Design (DK) and Take Chelsea Home (Mitchell Beazley) – as well as a substantial number of articles on garden design for publications like Gardens Illustrated.
CY Gardens is a multidisciplinary gardens consultancy business which specializes in content creation, landscape design and planning, and business mentoring.
Since 2020 Chris has been Consultant Gardening Publisher for DK Books (Dorling Kindersley), acquiring the leading names in the gardening world to write for the UK’s number one gardening book publisher. Authors Chris has signed include no-dig guru Charles Dowding, Gardeners’ World presenter Adam Frost, grow your own writer Rekha Mistry, houseplant expert Tony Le Britton and community activist Tayshan Hayden Smith.
Having originally trained in landscape architecture, he undertakes private garden and landscape design for clients all over the country. He lives in Northamptonshire with his family, dogs and self-made swimming pond. Chris’ love of the subject, interest in business, and the ability to communicate to different audiences is something he undertakes with passion and commitment.

Questions
We want this to be as useful as it can be to you. While we have things we know will be interesting to cover, the more of this that responds to your needs, the better.
If you are attending, you can email me a question for Chris and we will try to cover the topics raised. As you might imagine, we’ll prioritise the most frequently asked questions and cover the most popular topics, but also include the most interesting one-offs.
Lastly
In order to protect attendees privacy and encourage relaxed openness, I will not be uploading a film of this after the event.
I hope to see you there.
Mark
