Should you write the whole book first?

I had plans for this episode/instalment of Writing A Book, but they have been shuffled quietly off stage left for another time - next week in all likelihood. And it’s Rachel Baker’s fault.

The second chat I had with Lia Leendertz about her experience of getting her best selling Almanac published had quite a response - much of it by email - but also in a few comments under the film clip. You can see them here.

I was about to reply to Rachel’s question about whether it was ok to write the entire book and sending that to a publisher, when it occurred to me that it might - for the reasons she talks about, and others - be of wider interest. So instead of typing a reply that might be seen by few, I’ve recorded a response (below) so it might be heard by the many.
