Fortnum and Mason Food & Drink Awards: Food Writer shortlisting
For ABUNDANCE
I have some excellent news: I have been shortlisted in the hugely prestigious Fortnum and Mason Food and Drink Awards, in the Food Writer category, for ABUNDANCE, the book I am writing here, live, with you.
This is a huge deal - the F&Ms are really something, and for a Substack to make it into a category traditionally full of excellent columns and features in print media is a real moment.
Of course, if you weren’t here subscribing it wouldn’t be happening - without you reading, I may as well scribble in my note book. So congratulations to you too - we are shortlisted and I couldn’t be more delighted.
Being shortlisted out of everyone eligible is really the thing to celebrate - the winner might easily be any of those it has been whittled down to - so let’s raise a glass/coffee/smile. A huge thank you from me.
Awards night is May 2.
Here is the full shortlisting of all the categories.
The seemingly random pollinator on the pluot (apricot/plum hybrid) was doing its sunny thing on the day I was told (I’ve had to keep schtum until 10am today) so I thought it deserved a mention.
Many congrats, Mark!
This feels huge - you have literally invented your own category of writing live on Substack and then casually been shortlisted for it. Blimey. 👏🏻
