The shoulders of summer are when I enjoy a mojito most. I think it’s partly the freshness of the mint - a dense nest of early summer leaves sun-warmed, releasing their fragrant oils, and a flush of late summer leaves following their hot-weather cutting back - and some of it is the ghost of autumn stealing a few degrees out of the early morning and late evening air. It makes me grateful for the sun that remains.
If you are starting with a plant it can only be lack of water as they are immune to even repeated attempts on their life. If you have been starting with seed, buy a young plant instead
At the moment here in Venice it’s all about the Ugo. Or Hugo - never seen it written on a menu but it’s what everyone is ordering - Prosecco, soda, elderflower, mint and lemon or lime. Aperol spritz is so yesterday apparently. But the Select spritz continues to please
