Great! My top takeaway was how to pronounce your name right. Then Cerys mispronounced it straight after, but in a different way from how I have been. Lovely music and chat though.
How wonderful! I was a big fan of Catatonia back in the day, still remember ordering in the albums from abroad in the early days of Amazon because they weren't available where I lived in Norway.
Love all this, Mark. Instead of working I've spent the past half an hour adding various songs to my playlists. All your fault ha ha. But thank you for so much rich comment and insight.
Thanks for sharing this fun playlist. It was a pleasure to listen to the show today. Just for the record...I land firmly on the side of pizza - it's a major yes in my mind!
Just caught the end bit but will listen again. I used to do a fab little podcast called The Write Songs with authors (not just of food books) about the soundtrack - real or imaginary - to the writing of their books. It was such fun and a really different way to understand the author and their writing process. And such a great way to hear new music.
It’s such a great thing isn’t it - I did something similar a while back and will go in search of yours if it is still online…such a great avenue to explore
so much great music (I've always preferred Donny Hathaway's cover to the original) but it made me especially happy hearing Ivor Cutler on the radio this morning.
Your time with Cerys was a very enjoyable listen with tea and sunshine at the weekend. Great looking playlist: most of which I don't know, though I doubt I could listen to McCartney's celery percussion for a second time this calendar year. I once brought a MasterChef book shoot to a standstill after the home economist and food stylist refused to carry on working until they had music that was more uplifting than their art director's playlist! If you've never heard A Silver Mount Zion's '13 Angels Standing Guard Round The Side Of Your Bed' then do and you'll probably deduce that theirs was a legitimate, possibly humane, request. (They made me put it on in the first place -- I did tell them they'd regret asking!)

Ha! I get allsorts and when you went to my school you get used to what you get! Its Dee-ack-uh-no but yknow. And thank you

I liked with someone who really loved them so got to see them and they were fantastic live
You do have impeccable taste, sir.
I'm very glad you think so!

Sorry to distract you...unless you wanted to be distracted of course! And thank you
Thanks for the playlist. Have pre-ordered the book and loved the Paul McCartney/celery fact!
You are the perfect person Clare! Thank you
Thank you Mark for another fabulous playlist. And I've been to a few weddings like that - they were FANTASTIC
WHY DIDN’T YOU INVITE ME!
🤣
Excellent. I have a long train journey ahead this week, a new playlist is just the ticket!
I hope it keeps you good company

Ha! I love excellent pizza but there’s so little of it around!
Yes…a very clearly expressed clarification!
I was listening! You were right: food and music - all part of the same tree. ☺️
Such a lovely interview, isn’t she magic. You were not bad also. Loved the Ivor cutler x
‘Not bad’ is high praise indeed x
🤣

Swapsies? I think you’d like Oliver Rowe’s (although Olia Hercules’ is my favourite) https://m.mixcloud.com/RadioReverb/the-write-songs-oliver-rowe/
By very peculiar coincidence, Oliver and i overlapped at uni by a year when food was not remotely the thing for either of us
How very spooky.

Thank you Sarah! I'm always happy hearing Ivor Cutler too
My goodness you’re good at playlists! Ever thought of doing a spot of DJing?
